Led by Dr. Shek, conductor of the Burnaby Harmonious Sinfonia, the Muses Adult Choir warmly welcomes all music enthusiasts to join us!
Orchestra Conductor:
Dr. Gilbert Sak
Dr. Gilbert Sak has over 20 years of conducting experience. He has worked with orchestras of all capacities, ranging from primary school orchestras to university orchestras, from community orchestras to professional orchestras. He founded the Hong Kong Civic Youth Orchestra in 2005 and served as the Music Director for 10 years. He was the Principal Conductor of Hong Kong Metropolitan Pop Orchestra from 2016 to 2019. While serving as an adjunct lecturer at the Hong Kong Baptist University, he conducted the University's String Ensemble, Repertory Orchestra and the Women’s Choir. He is currently one of the conductors of the Vancouver Pops Orchestra, and the music director of the newly established Burnaby Harmonious Sinfonia.
Dr. Sak is also a sought-after string pedagogue. He is the first Hong Kong native to receive a doctorate in violin performance. He has studied in Germany, England and in the USA under the tutelage of world-famous violinists and pedagogues including Michael Goldstein, Albert Markov, Yfrah Neaman, Petru Munteanu and Dr. John Bauer. As a violinist/violist, he has held principal positions in orchestras and has toured to China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Finland. He joined the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in 2001 as Principal 2nd Violin and subsequently became a Co-leader. Currently, besides teaching in his private studio, he is on the faculty of the Richmond Music School where he teaches violin, viola and chamber music.

Our mission is to promote the art of choral singing and build a vibrant, welcoming community for adults who enjoy expressing themselves through music. Whether you have prior singing experience or are simply eager to learn, you are invited to sing, share, and perform with us.
Members will have opportunities to participate in performances and collaborate with the Burnaby Harmonious Sinfonia, experiencing the joy and power of choral–orchestral music firsthand.

🕔 Schedule: Thursday, 8:15 – 9:45 PM
💲 Fee: $200 / 10 sessions
💡 Highlights:
Free open audition day (for vocal part assignment, no elimination); bilingual instruction in English and Chinese; open to adults aged 18 and above.
